How your score is calculated

We score six areas of your application from 0 to 100, then take a weighted average. We mix in a country baseline, divide by how hard the visa type is, and add a small penalty for past refusals. Everything below is the exact maths in plain English.

The six areas and how much they count

AreaWeightWhy it matters
Money & finances22%The single most common reason visas get refused.
Reasons to return home20%Officers want to be sure you'll go back when you should.
Documents ready15%Missing paperwork is an easy refusal even when everything else is fine.
Job or sponsor strength15%A real employer, school, or sponsor anchors your application.
Past visa record15%A clean record helps a lot. A refusal hurts a lot.
Travel history13%Past trips that went smoothly show you can be trusted again.

Once the six areas are averaged, the result counts for 70% of your score. The other 30% is a baseline for the country you're applying to. That total is then divided by the difficulty of the visa type. Your Chance of refusal is 100 minus your readiness, plus 5 points for each past refusal.

What each answer is worth, exactly

Where you're going
Each country has a starting baseline. The UK starts at 62, the US at 56, Canada at 60, Schengen at 64, Australia at 58, the UAE at 70. This baseline counts for 30% of your final score.
Type of visa
Visitor counts as standard difficulty. Student is about 15% harder, work about 35% harder, and family or spouse about 45% harder. The final score is divided by this difficulty.
Monthly income band
Below median = 0, median = +18 points to Money, above median = +36, top quartile = +54. It also adds a small lift (up to +12) to your overall profile.
Savings runway
Under 3 months = 0, 3–6 months = +12 to Money, 6–12 = +24, 12+ months = +36.
Prior international travel
None = +0, 1–2 trips = +25 to Travel history, 3–5 trips = +50, frequent traveller = +75 (on top of a 15-point base).
Prior visa refusals
None = 95 in Past visa record. One refusal = 55. Multiple = 20. Each past refusal also adds 5 points to your Chance of refusal at the end.
Ties to home country
Each tie you tick (job, dependents, property, business, study) is worth +14 to Reasons to return home. Ticking 'stable employment' adds a further +6.
Documents ready
Each document you've gathered adds +13 to Documents ready (on top of a 10-point base). So six documents takes you to 88.
Purpose clarity
Vague = 0, general = +8 to Reasons to return home, specific or documented = +16 or +24. Specific or documented also adds +12 to your overall profile.
Sponsor or employer strength
None = 0, informal = +14 to your profile, verified = +28, institutional = +42. Verified or higher also adds +8 to Money.

Three example scenarios

Frequent business traveller, UK visitor visa

Top-quartile income, 12+ months savings, frequent traveller, no past refusals, stable job and property at home, all six documents ready, specific reason for the trip, verified employer letter.

Most areas land near the top of their range. Readiness ends up around 88, chance of refusal around 12%. Recommendation: you're in good shape.

First-time student, Canada study permit

Median income, 3–6 months savings, no past travel, no refusals, only school enrolment as a tie, 3 documents ready, general reason, institutional school sponsor.

Money and Travel history are weak; Profile is strong because of the school. Readiness lands around 55, chance of refusal around 45%. Recommendation: get the full application review.

Spouse visa after a past refusal

Below-median income, under 3 months savings, one prior refusal, only family as a tie, 2 documents ready, vague reason, no verified sponsor.

Past visa record drops to 55, Money and Documents stay low, and the family-visa difficulty multiplier pulls the score down further. Readiness lands around 30, chance of refusal around 75%. Recommendation: talk to a specialist before you apply.
